Le reiki is a therapeutic approach using universal vital energy, “Rei Ki” in Japanese. This therapeutic practice makes it possible to channel the vital energy of the universe. For this, rites specific to the practice of reiki, make it possible to activate the energy centers of the reiki practitioner, by putting them in resonance with a vibratory level allowing an optimum reception of Universal Vital Energy.
This vital energy which, as its name suggests, is the basis of life, in the broad sense of the term and for all species of the different kingdoms of the Earth: From minerals to humans, including plants and animals. The space around us, the Universe, is made up of this infinite and inexhaustible force. At every moment of our life, whether we are minerals, plants, animals, humans, this energy flows into us and makes us live.
Without life energy, there is no life on Earth, nor for that matter in the entire Universe. Moreover, did our scientists not demonstrate, also at the beginning of the 20th century, that “matter” as we call it does not exist. Everything is “vibratory state”, at different rates of vibration. What we are used to calling “matter” is made up of dense energy, at a lower vibratory rate than the energy of our thoughts, for example, or our subtle bodies.
Everything in the Universe is energy, nothing else. Based on this observation, it is easy to understand that by acting on a being by facilitating the energy supply that he needs, it is a little as if we were providing him with additional fuel allowing him to go further. . This contribution of Universal Vital Energy that he will receive will help him to resolve certain dysfunctions that may have appeared, following various traumas or stress of emotional origin, which have disturbed his energy structure.
This is known since the dawn of time ...
Energy treatments were known and practiced by priest therapists from the time of Akhenaton, then later by the Essenes and the Master Jesus ... But also in India, China, Tibet ... for millennia.
On the other hand, with the evolution of Science which has chosen to separate from the spiritual, this approach to energy healing has fallen into disuse.
Mikao Usui was the vector, the instrument, allowing to rediscover this science known for so long.
Reiki is therefore an energy therapy approach intended to help oneself or help others to heal themselves. This transmission of Vital Energy with the approach of reiki, is done by the hands and the gaze. In reiki techniques, the therapist's hands can touch or simply be placed above the body, as the case may be.
Reiki is neither a doctrine nor a religion
It absolutely does not interfere with our beliefs, but is a tool for inner awakening, opening of the heart and consciousness, while respecting each person's path and his own rhythm of evolution.
It is an indefinable experience, beyond words and any rational explanation. Receiving a reiki treatment is a pure vibratory experience, during which the receiver finds himself soothed and enveloped in an energy of Unconditional Love.
Reiki is not limited to simple bodily care, although the body is the “base of work”. Reiki helps the person who receives it, in a global (holistic) way, both physically, mentally, emotionally or spiritually to take charge of themselves.
Reiki acts in depth at all levels of the Being, inducing a state of deep inner peace, both for the one who gives reiki and for the one who receives it. By channeling the energy towards himself and / or towards other beings, the donor thus bathes in a climate of permanent self-healing.
“Healing” does not exist as such: “ only self-healing exists », It is the recipient who chooses to welcome this energy to self-heal. The reiki practitioner is only the transmitting channel. It is therefore totally impossible and untrue to "promise healing", "miraculous results" whatever they are, because it depends on each being, each is unique, and each reacts in its own way, at its own pace to energy , and with his own will.
However, Reiki will always be deeply positive and beneficial on all levels. Nevertheless, we do not control his action, because it is the receiver and he alone who decides, in the depths of his soul, of the use he will make of the Universal Vital Energy “Reiki” which he has just received. .
Mikao Usui's quest
From then on, Mikao Usui would no longer know peace before having elucidated the mystery of healing, of energy, of existence itself. The next day he left his professorship to go to study at the University of Chicago. He hoped to find the key in the original biblical texts and began to learn Hebrew, Greek and Latin so that he could read all the writings in their original version and find out how Jesus and his disciples healed the sick, but nothing. After years of searching, he still hadn't found anything and it was in a state of extreme discouragement that the Mikao Usui returned to Japan.
However, he had one resource left: the Buddhist texts. Indeed, the writings recounted that Buddha also possessed healing powers. Mikao Usui then began to devour the Sanskrit texts in search of a few techniques, a few clues that would allow him to understand how Buddha, Jesus and others healed the physical body of the sick. He visited monasteries, questioned the monks, but they always gave him the same answer: " We already have enough to do to heal the mind, without even worrying about healing the physical body.»
After months of research, he was referred to a temple, a Zen monastery near Kyoto. He asked to see the responsible monk. It was an old man who was also interested in this question. Mikao Usui asked to be admitted to the monastery to study Buddhist texts, sutras, in order to discover the secret of healing. This done, he studied these texts in their Japanese and Chinese traditions but without success. He learned Sanskrit, the oldest language, the most directly derived from that original speech of which all other languages are derived forms. So he began to read the sutras written in that language and it was in these texts that he found the symbols calligraphed by an unknown disciple of the Buddha, the description of the healing formula and the method by which Buddha transmitted his knowledge.
He had found the secret of this practice but he lacked the Healing Force, the Subtle Force.
He told his old friend the abbot about it and told him he wanted to go to the mountains for a twenty-one day retreat, during which he would fast and meditate. The abbot strongly advised against it, warning him of the dangers to which he was going to expose himself. But Mikao Usui did not want to step back so close and after having thanked his friend for a long time, he bade him farewell.
Initiation
At the top of the mountain, Mikao Usui placed twenty-one pebbles in front of him, representing the twenty-one days he had given himself to receive the power to heal. Every day, he would throw one of his stones in order to keep some notion of time. The days passed, thirst, hunger, discouragement and doubts assailed him. He plunged even more intensely into his meditation.
As he finished this 21-day cycle, on the morning of the last day when all hope seemed lost, he saw in the distance a bright light advancing towards him at breakneck speed. For a brief moment, he thought it was the end and wanted to run when from inside, a voice said to him:
« You who have been looking for me for so long, do not run away, I am coming to give you what you are looking for. »
He remained still and the Light struck him in the 3rd eye. He then fell unconscious and, when he slowly regained consciousness, he saw with his eyes closed this ball of light dancing in front of him and from this ball, from which came millions of bubbles in the colors of the rainbow. Some were bigger and in those he saw again in gold letters the symbols he had discovered. They followed each other in the colors red, orange, yellow, green, pale blue, indigo and violet in a slow movement going from right to left. Instantly, he understood their meaning and the ways to use them. He heard these words:
« Remember, remember, remember? »
After this discovery, he undertook the descent of the mountain and in his haste, he ran into a stone and tore his fingernail. The blood was flowing and the pain was intense at this moment, a voice from inside said to him:
« Now is the time to put what you have learned into practice. »
First miracle
He laid his hands on his wound. The blood stopped flowing and he felt the pain ease.
Second miracle
He continued on his way to the inn where he ordered a copious meal which he digested, after such a long fast, without difficulty and without ill effects.
Third miracle
The innkeeper's daughter had suffered from toothache for several days. There were traces of tears on her face and her cheek was swollen and red. Mikao Usui asked if he could help him. This permission obtained, he placed his hands on the swollen cheek and in a few minutes, the pain was gone ...
Fourth miracle
On his return to the monastery, he inquired about his friend, the old monk who had supported him in his research. He was bedridden with arthritis. Mikao Usui rushed to his room. After telling him about his experience, he laid his hands on the painful places, transferred this energy to him as he had practiced it on himself and soon after the old monk was able to go about his business.
Mikao Usui now had no doubt that he held the secret of healing, that this Light he had received was manifested by the sole desire to heal and relieve suffering. He called this energy “Reiki”, a Shinto term which means “Universal Life Energy”. Which also means, beyond the primary meaning:
- the link between universal energy and that present in us,
- something that you feel, but don't see,
- harmonizing energy on all levels, in all phases.
Putting into practice the teaching received
The next step was to figure out how to make the best use of this donation. He therefore decided to put it at the service of the poor and the disinherited. He went to Kyoto to a slum, disguised as a beggar. He met the king of beggars and offered his services:
« I have a wonderful gift of healing that I want to use in the service of the poor. I can erase all traces of illness from this neighborhood. »
He was given a place to work and immediately, without respite, he began to initiate, to treat free of charge all those who were there. Very quickly, people felt better and full of energy, they recovered their physical health. Those who were young enough and who had the strength to work, he helped them to organize themselves and find work in order to have a life of dignity and to provide for themselves.
But, after a while, he saw again in the street the same people whom he had treated and initiated. They were again in that same state of poverty and begging. Mikao Usui therefore asked them what they were doing there, why they had come back. The answer was unanimous:
« It does not work for me »
« They make me work too long, they do not pay me enough »
« I can not »
« It s too difficult »
Anyway, they all had a pretext to justify this return to misery, to suffering. Mikao Usui had great difficulty in this observation but he understood that he had not respected the principle of free will: He had chosen evolution, health, for people who had not chosen to evolve.
For Mikao Usui, it seemed obvious that it was impossible to heal someone against their will, that they could only be helped to heal if they really wanted to and moreover, willing to take the whole thing. responsibility for what that implies.
Illness or health are not permanent states, dependent on an external will. They are the expression of a state of imbalance or inner harmonythey depend on the deep determination of each individual.
