LProfessor Donatien Mavoungou presented, on Friday June 6, 2014 in Libreville, the fruit of his research for the fight against AIDS. The professor and his colleagues presented immunorex TM, a vaccine tested in the second phase and which has already been tried on 200 patients in France, without any negative reaction having been recorded.
The molecule of this vaccine has been called tat oyi. It should help the immune system of HIV-positive patients to recognize this protein and neutralize it. Professor Mavoungou's vaccine is presented as the most advanced of all those currently at the research stage in major research centers.
We currently have a therapeutic vaccine against AIDS, which is to date one of the few in the world to have succeeded in entering phase 2, with an authorization to stop triple therapy for two months, Professor Mavoungou told reporters.
