IThey came as slaves. Vast human cargoes carried on large British ships bound for the Americas. They were shipped in the hundreds of thousands and included men, women and even the youngest children. When they rebelled or even disobeyed an order, they were punished in the worst possible way. Slavers hung their human properties by their hands and set their feet or hands on fire as punishment. They were burned alive and their heads were placed on a stake in the market as a warning to other captives. We don't need to go into all the bloodthirsty details. Is not it ?
We are all too familiar with the atrocities of the slave trade. But, are we talking about slavery in Africa?
Kings James II and Charles I also made continual efforts to enslave the Irish. The famous Briton Oliver Cromwell perpetuated this practice of dehumanizing his neighbor.
