A under 30, Lorna Rutto created and runs EcoPost, a young Kenyan SME that transforms plastic waste into materials. A limitless vein that the Success cameras make you discover. Every month, Lorna Rutto goes to the Kasarani landfill in Nairobi to buy 30 tonnes of plastics. The boss of EcoPost then transformed them. The vein is limitless: the Kenyan capital generates 000 tonnes of waste daily, a large part of which is found in nature.
Emblem
"This plastic has become the national emblem of Kenya", explains Lorna Rutto. These teams sort the plastic, melt it at a very high temperature and mold it to obtain different objects: mainly poles. The EcoPost factory opened in 2009. And with 65 million FCFA in income (around 100 euros), it is now profitable. Soon, with new facilities, EcoPost will even be able to attack an even bigger market: the construction market. A report from Réussite, a monthly economic magazine broadcast on Canal + Ouest and Center and co-produced by Groupe Jeune Afrique, Canal + Afrique and Galaxie Presse.
