Lqueen Zingha (Jingha) of Angola marked the history of the emancipation of African women before their time, before the arrival of Portuguese colonizers in black Africa. Anna Zingha was the last queen of pre-colonial Angola. Having reigned for about thirty years in the 17th century, until her death at the age of 82, Anna Zingha put up strong resistance to Portugal's ambitions for her kingdom.
A prosperous civilization
When the Portuguese arrived in 1484 in Angolan territory managed by Queen Anna Zingha, the settlers were surprised to discover an El Dorado of 8 provinces, with richly fertile land and prosperous cattle breeding. When Diego Cao, the Portuguese navigator landed at the mouth of the Congo River in 1482, he suspected he would meet other peoples. Two years later, arriving in a kingdom, he was surprised at the beauty of the country, the sense of the social organization of this people, in this year 1484, to find blacks so impeccably dressed, in women's adornments, in the good health of the children, very polite, courteous people, even though they had never been in contact with the "European civilization".
