Lhe Bhagavad Gîtâ is one of the founding texts of the Vedânta, alongside the Upanishads and the Brahma Sûtra. It is part of the Mahâbhârata, a vast epic which tells the story of lineages of kings and sages of the country of Bhârat (real name of India). The epic contains not only historical aspects, but also mythological tales and philosophical teachings.
In the Bhagavad Gîtâ, a real teaching on life is delivered by Lord Krishna. This message, which has survived the centuries, remains surprisingly topical through the answers it provides to essential questions: what is the purpose of life? How to be fulfilled in this world? How to find peace and wholeness in a troubled world? What is the deeper meaning of the action? How can our ordinary action become a path of evolution?
