THEThe therapeutic use of speech presupposes that the unconscious is structured like a language. The problem facing the therapist is that of the direct expression of the patient's drives, of their significant shaping in order to finally constitute a system of language called upon to structure the unconscious.
There is no other means than artistic, symbolic activity, to endow a borderline personality with an unconscious structured by language, a condition of its verbal expression and its appropriation by the patient in speaking.
