THEVai script was invented by Momolu Duwalu Bukele in 1833 in Liberia. It was adapted from old ideographs used 200 years earlier. This writing is read from left to right and has 212 characters. A tonal language of 12 vowels (5 of which are nasal) and 31 consonants, uses a syllabary to represent the sounds of this language.
