Black Athena: The Afroasiatic Roots of Classical Civilization Volume One:The Fabrication of Ancient Greece 1785-1985 Broché – 21 novembre 1991
Options d'achat et paniers Plus
Classical civilisation, Martin Bernal argues, has deep roots in Afro-Asiatic cultures. But these Afro-Asiatic influences have been systematically ignored, denied, or suppressed since the eighteenth century - chiefly for racist reasons.
The popular view is that Greek civilisation was the result of the conquest of a sophisticated but weak native population by vigorous Indo-European speakers--or Aryans--from the North. But the Classical Greeks, Bernal argues, knew nothing of this "Aryan model." They did not see their political institutions, science, philosophy, or religion as original, but rather as derived from the East in general, and Egypt in particular.
Black Athena is a three-volume work. Volume 1 concentrates on the crucial period between 1785 and 1850, which saw the Romantic and racist reaction to the Enlightenment and the French Revolution, and the consolidation of Northern expansion into other continents.
In an unprecedented tour de force, Bernal makes meaningful links between a wide range of areas and disciplines--drama poetry, myth, theological controversy, esoteric religion, philosophy, biography, language, historical narrative, and the emergence of "modern scholarship."

Description du produit
Revue de presse
Bernal makes an exotic interloper in Classical studies. He comes to them with two outstanding gifts: a remarkable flair for the sociology – perhaps one should say politics – of knowledge, and a formidable linguistic proficiency… The ‘fabrication’ of Ancient Greece…will never pass as a natural identity again ― Guardian
The value of the book lies in his massive and meticulous demonstration of how scholarly views of the past are moulded (and repeatedly modified) by the changing political environment in which scholars pass their lives... Black Athena is certainly a stimulus to thought ― London Review of Books
Has the virtues of force, clarity, wealth of ideas and a voracious intellectual curiosity ― Times Higher Educational Supplement
A swashbuckling foray into the very heart of racist, Eurocentric historiography... Already one can hear the knives being sharpened against Bernal ― City Limits

5,0 sur 5 étoiles The truth nothing but the truth
Black Athena is a must read for the truth seekers. It peals back the deceptive layers to reveal the truth. Black Athena truthfully let's us know that there is no such civilization as Greek civilization but it is truthfully a borrowed African culture and education. Even Athens was established by the Asiatic and African blacks. If you need more information, get yourself a copy.

5,0 sur 5 étoiles The truth is winking
Western scientists who put forward the Aryan theory, basing their theory on Darwin's theory of evolution, where the superior ones continue the continuation of races, had to create a backward civilizational order in order to see themselves as having the right to exploit other countries because their own civilization was superior. They had to attribute the source of Western civilization to Roman civilization (whose civilization was also nourished by the Turkish-origin Etruscan civilization, even their alphabet) and the source of Roman civilization to Greek civilization. The first scientists of humanity such as Pythagoras and Hippocrates were created in Greek civilization. However, the mathematics used by Pythagoras was known by the Assyrians 1000 years before him and its source was the Sumerians (the first recorded Turkish civilization). In his 30-page book, Hippocrates wrote that he received support from Turkish herbalists/shamans for disease treatments. B.C. In the 5th century, a Scythian Turkish scientist was called to Athens for a disease and he washed the streets/houses with alcohol, that is, wine, to get rid of the epidemic.
The civilizations in Anatolia (Lycia, Caria, etc.) are always described as Greek civilization. In fact, it has been proven that they were a unique civilization and that the Greeks copied many things from them. ("Uygarlık Anadoludan Doğudu", Prof. Dr. Fahri Işık). There was no country called Greece in the Roman Empire. They were all separate regions. These regions and the tribes living there were written one by one in the Iliad. For example, there were Pelasgians who supported Troy there. They were the ones who developed today's Greece and the islands. Their alphabet is a bridge between the Etruscan and Turkish alphabets (known as Runic).
In short; the book has slightly lifted the veil on the facts and light has appeared.
My only criticism is that it attributes the source of Greek civilization to Egypt and the Semites and does not give the Sumerians the weight they deserve. For example, it is said that the alphabet used by the Greeks was taken from the Phoenicians. So who did the Phoenicians take it from? Because in order to make an alphabet, first there must be pictures, then abstract pictures, then tamgas and finally the alphabet. These stages do not exist in the Phoenicians. All of these stages are present in the formation of the Turkish alphabet and can be traced back.
