EBetween 50 and 90% of bees have disappeared over the past fifteen years. This epidemic is spreading from hive to hive all over the planet. Bees leave their hives never to return. No corpses nearby. No visible predators. Arrived on earth 60 million years before man, the Apis mellifera (the honey bee) is essential to our survival. Today, we all have reason to be concerned: 80% of plant species need bees to be fertilized. Without them, no pollination, so practically no more fruit or vegetables. Sixty years ago, Einstein had already insisted on the relationship of dependence which binds foragers to man: If the bee disappeared from the globe, man would only have four years to live.
