Lhe “black Indians” are residents of the neighborhoods of New Orleans. These black Americans gather in tribes, make the most beautiful costumes in the world, and parade through the streets like African angels disguised as Indians. The film pays homage to the Indian spirits of the land of America, as do the Big Chiefs of the tribes we follow throughout the film. This documentary goes back to the roots of call and response, a musical form which is the last living tradition of African culture and one of the sources of jazz.
