Lhe contemporaries of the Egyptians who have left us testimonies about them affirm that they were negroes. Indeed, the Egyptians called their country Kémet which means black in the Egyptian language. Herodotus repeatedly insists on the Negro character of the Egyptians. To demonstrate that the Greek oracle is of Egyptian origin Herodotus writes: "and when they add that this dove was black, they give us to understand that this woman was Egyptian." To demonstrate that the inhabitants of Colchis were of Egyptian origin, Herodotus continues: "I will also conjecture on two clues: the first is that they are black and that they have frizzy hair ..."
Diodorus of Sicily writes: “the Ethiopians say that the Egyptians are one of their colonies which was led to Egypt by Osiris. They add that the Egyptians take from them, as from their authors and their ancestors, most of their laws, it is from them that they learned to honor kings as gods and to bury the dead. with so much pomp; sculpture and writing originated among the Ethiopians… ”
