PThrough years of work spanning the end of the eighteenth and the beginning of the nineteenth century, the theosophist had amassed an immense documentation on the history of the Earth, on the nature which covers it, and on the humanity that develops there. Faced little by little with the evidence of the impossibility of publishing such a wealth of knowledge and erudition, Fabre d'Olivet had to resolve to limit himself by publishing in 1822 (he was 55 years old) , two volumes devoted to the history of civilizations from the most distant origins, endeavoring to include everything relating to the social state of man, and to the various forms of government. The fruit of all his studies and research make this “historico-philosophical” fresco the most important piece of his Work. Of the origin of human societies, he provides descriptions and proofs, by rational deductions or etymological analogies. At the time of its publication, no work on the political and philosophical history of the human race could be compared to it. Even today, almost two centuries later, this sum amassed by the author of “Vers Dorés”, seems to be the most beautiful description that can be written of the place, the role, past, present or future, of 'Man in the universe.

She lived near the boreal pole, where she had originated. The black race, older than it, then dominated on earth, and held there the scepter of science and power: it possessed all of Africa and the greater part of Asia where it had enslaved and compressed the yellow race.[…]…and, as I have just said (p.81), the white race, which was only just being born, wandered around the boreal pole…”
