HAiti is one of the poorest countries in the world, where electricity is available only to a few people, while most of the population can rely solely on kerosene lamps for illumination and on wood from forests for heating. The country witnessed the devastation caused by a catastrophic earthquake which in early 2010 destroyed the entire community causing thousands of victims and the damage is slow to disappear even today.
Haiti's slow economic and social recovery seems to have started. The decision was taken to focus on renewable energy sources and, in particular, on photovoltaics.
