Edoes a Negro-African philosophy exist? This question will have occupied several generations of African researchers trained in the school of Western philosophy, a school whose most illustrious figures are, among others, Kant, Hegel, Hume, Heidegger and Descartes. However, this becomes a paradox when one discovers that this Western philosophy, the sources of which stands the Greek philosophy of authors such as Aristotle, Plato or Socrates, was in reality a late daughter of African philosophy. This observation forces a new question: is there a Greek philosophy? In 1954, George GM James, an African born in Guyana, published a masterful work, now rightly considered one of the most important of all time.
In his book Stolen Heritage, Georges GM James not only demonstrates the African origin of Greek philosophy, but adds to the rigorously documented facts a certainty: that of the African origin of civilization. This book aims to demonstrate that the real authors of Greek philosophy were not the Greeks but the African people better known as the Egyptians. The honor and recognition erroneously attributed to the Hellenes for centuries actually belong to the black continent. This theft of African heritage by the Greeks has given rise to a world misconception that Africans have made no contribution to civilization and are therefore backward. This distorted image is at the root of the racism that plagues black people today.
