Lhe Somali people represent 85% of the inhabitants of the country which bears the same name. The Oromo are also a people of the Horn of Kamita (Africa), representing more than a third of the Ethiopian population. Hailé Selassié, the last emperor of Ethiopia and a major player in the attempt at African union, was an Oromo. These two peoples belong to the great Kushite people, hence the fact of devoting a common article to their spirituality. If the Oromo are known for the practice of Orthodox Christianity, particularly through the great emperors of Ethiopia, and if Somalia is today totally Muslim, these peoples nevertheless have a traditional spirituality which presents incredible similarities with those of all peoples of black Africa.
1) One God
For the Kushites, there is only one God, whose name is Waaq or Waaqa, still called Eebe by the Somali. According to the Oromo, Waaqa created itself, just as Amon / Imana created itself in ancient Egypt. We speak of Uncreated. Waaqa is the source and love of Dhuughaa, that is to say the truth, and he does not like injustice and crime. Dhuughaa here is obviously the Maat (truth and justice) of ancient Egypt, still called Mbongi among the baKongo and Mbok among the Wolof of Senegal.
