AfIn order to understand the nature of Imana or the Amen or the creator in authentic African thought, we must first of all remember that for our ancestors, the divine principle is a unique principle. The very name of Imana or Amon refers to these notions of unfathomable, impenetrable, etc ... That said, the Kemite priests initially conceptualized the divine principle as being a single principle (ie monotheism) and hidden, containing within itself the origin of the existence of all things. Secondly, this divine principle is androgynous in nature, that is to say of male and female nature, which allows it to create all existing things (humans, animals, plants, etc. on the male and female model). In a third time, the divine principle has several forms, several manifestations. And it is this part of the religious vision of Kemite priests that is the most misunderstood among Africans, it seems even the most misunderstood because of the great ignorance that reigns on the continent. How to explain the fact that African spirituality can be monotheistic when its supreme being manifests itself in several forms? And beh what you should know is that when the divine principle (Imana) manifests itself in the form of love, for example, our ancestors in the Nile valley equated this love of the supreme being with love of a mother for her child. That is why, they represented the image of Aset or Isis with the child Heru or Horus. When the divine principle or Imana or the supreme being manifests itself in the form of truth, justice, order, harmony, Maat is represented or so called. When the divine principle or Imana manifests itself in the form of knowledge, omniscience, speech, one represents Djehuty or Thoth… Etc… These are its various manifestations are in fact the various aspects of the same being, Imana or the Amen. So for our ancestors of the Nile Valley, the Creator is Love (i.e. Aset or Isis) truth, justice, order, harmony (i.e. Maat), He is the one who knows everything , who holds all knowledge (i.e. Djehuty or Thoth) etc ... but ultimately He is Imana (i.e. Hidden One) for he is so great, unfathomable, elusive, mysterious etc… .that we cannot completely and totally define it. And as we cannot fully understand it, this is what makes it worship through its own various manifestations, namely the worship of Osare or Osiris, the worship of Aset or Isis, the worship of Ra, etc ... There have never been several divinities in Kemet in reality, but a single and unique divine principle whose deep essence is hidden (Imana / Amon / Amen) but which is expressed in various forms, under various ways of doing and acting. Fourthly, the divine principle given that it is the principle containing in itself the origin of the existence of all things and making them live on a daily basis, the essence of all existing things (it is at say nature, ecosystems, plants, animals, human beings, etc…) are in him come from him and are animated by his energy.
