LBoykin's greatest contribution to the field of technology would be the control unit for the artificial pacemaker, which used electrical impulses to maintain a steady heartbeat. Other great achievements would include the creation of the variable resistor (used in guided missiles) the improved electrical resistor, used in computers, radios and televisions.
Born August 29, 1920 in Dallas, Texas, Boykin is the son of a carpenter and a stay-at-home mom. He left the Illinois Institute of Technology before graduating, and devoted himself to his career as an inventor.
