En 1945, early Christian manuscripts were found in the small Egyptian town of Nag Hammadi. But since then, a heavy silence has covered these texts, and even more in the French-speaking world, mainly because they give another point of view on Christian history in general and on certain episodes of the life of Jesus in particular. For example, the Gospel of Mary Magdalene was glossed over, and it took the success of The Da Vinci Code to bring these manuscripts to public attention.
